Total areas of the fields in this location are irrigated by Lifts, Wells, Rivers and Major Water Dams. In addition to 109 villages there are 51 villages nearest to Karkhana from which sugarcane is brought from last 20 years and 50 sugarcane is owned by share holders of Karkhana. The whole sugar factory unit of Karakhana is situated at site of 48.31 Hectors. As a part of promotion for saving of steam, power and water during the sugar manufacturing process, a Cogeneration project comes in to effect. Governments also promote these types of projects as these projects comes under non-conventional
energy sources and will help to contribute increasing national requirement of power.
As the technology of sugar production is enhanced, from time to time, upgradations to modern techniques are adopted by sugar factory. As a part of this, in 2011, sugar factory has decided to install new COGENERATION PROJECT of 17.5 MW capacity. M/s. VSI, Pune has prepared Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Cogen project along with related modernization. New COGENERATION PROJECT comprises new high Pressure Boiler of 100 MT capacity and 17.5 MW Turbine. From this project, we have planned to export approx 12.5 MW electricity to MsEDCL. It will help to strengthen the financial status of sugar factory.
For this Cogeneration and Modernization project, Commissioner of Sugar has given Financial & Administrative sanction on 5th Oct. 2011. Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) has given their recommendation letter for Grid Connectivity on 23rd Nov. 2011 and also awarded Mulbhut Suvidha Sammatipatra for the project on 18th Dec. 2012.
Maharashtra State Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has given the consent for the project on 14th May 2012. Energy Purchase Agreement (EPA) is signed with MSEDCL on 17th Nov. 2012. By obtaining such required NOCs time to time, we progressed to the Tender Process of Equipment Purchase in December 2012.
After completion of process of Equipment Purchase of Boiler, Turbine and Switchyard, the ceremony of Bhumi-Pujan is carried out on 2nd Aug. 2012 and on 9th Aug. 2012, actual civil work of Boiler was started…
M/s. VSI, Pune has prepared the DPR for Rs. 136.00 Crores for Cogen and NCDC has apprised this project cost for 110.00 Crores. However, the purchases have been done before government Cogeneration Committee and they have finalized purchases to the tune of Rs. 106.57 Crores. Thus, we have saved near about 27.43 Crores as compared to DPR costs.
And at last we have completed all Co-gen work and commissioned plant on 9th Dec. 2013 and during season we have total produced 36488000 Units & exported 18322262 Units. Accordingly we received Rs. 10.48 Crores income from Co-Gen Unit. For the season 2014-2015 we have total produced 50684000 Units & exported 3,02,32,000 Units and we received Rs. 18.71 Crores income from Co-Gen Unit.
